IS IT OVER ?????

I don't know about you..but I've been in a Christmas Whirl Wind...and I loved every minute of it.
I twirled.... and whirled... laughed..cried..smiled...heart felt thank you's...Secret Santa stuff- co-workers partt's... family party...served....shopped...wrapped...baked...over indulged with goodies...hugged...kissed..and pinched my self when it was all over!

But my biggest project with my New Bernina was making 22 embroideried pillow cases for my grandchildren..( & 5 -duds  )( that would be mistakes beyond repair.. learning process) Here are just a few..

Now I'm looking in my sewing drawers to find some forgotten projects...
and my mind is running wild with possibilites with my bags... ya hoo
I'll set back and have a cold coke and just like Santa..put my feet up and then start all over again!

Tis the SEASON!

Temple Square
at
Christmas Time
Salt Lake City

With all the crazy hussle and bussle..of Christmas...
lets not forget the reason for the Season.

REMEMBER TO "BELIEVE"

It Came Upon the Midnight Clear

                                                                (E. H. Sears)

It came upon the midnight clear,
                                                That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold:
"Peace on the earth, good will to men,
                                                From heaven's all-gracious King."
The world in solemn stillness lay
                                                To hear the angels sing.

It's that TIME OF THE YEAR!

IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN... A TIME ..
.(TO SET ASIDE ALL THAT IS GOING ON WITH OUR TROUBLED GOVERMENT ..)

For me it is a time to present the "POLAR EXPRESS"
I was inspired to write my story and combine it with "BELIEVING"
and with the help of many talented friends and family.. I've been able to enjoy this opportunity as well as touch many hearts since 2008!
I hope as you prepare for this Christmas Season that you will have that special feeling in your heart... and never stop BELIEVING!

When it seems the magic slipped away...
We find it all again on Christmas Day.

Believe in what your heart is saying,
                                    Hear the melody that's playing.
                                    There's no time to waste,
                                    There so much to celebrate.
Believe in what you feel inside,
Give your dreams the wings to fly.
You have everything you need, if you just believe.

Light-Houses always have a story!

Over the Thanksgiving Holiday... Hubby & I was able to take a shot trip to San Diego.. and one of the places we went too....

I love the stories behind the Lighthouses!

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse - Illuminating the Past
The Old Point Loma Lighthouse stood watch over the entrance to San Diego Bay for 36 years. At dusk on November 15, 1855, the light keeper climbed the winding stairs and lit the light for the first time. What seemed to be a good location 422 feet above sea level, however, had a serious flaw. Fog and low clouds often obscured the light. On March 23, 1891, the light was extinguished and the keeper moved to a new lighthouse location closer to the water at the tip of the Point.
Today, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse still stands watch over San Diego, sentinel to a vanished past. The National Park Service has refurbished the interior to its historic 1880s appearance - a reminder of a bygone era. Ranger-led talks, displays, and brochures are available to explain the lighthouse’s interesting past.
Construction - Why is it the "Old Point Loma Lighthouse?"
The Old Point Loma Lighthouse is a reminder of simpler times - of sailing ships and oil lamps and the men and women whom day after day faithfully tended the coastal lights that guided mariners. In 1851, a year after California entered the Union, the U.S. Coastal Survey selected the heights of Point Loma for the location of a navigational aid. The crest seemed like the right location: it stood 422 feet above sea level, overlooking the bay and the ocean, and a lighthouse there could serve as both a harbor light and a coastal beacon.
Construction began three years later. Workers carved sandstone from the hillside for walls and salvaged floor tiles from the ruins of an old Spanish fort. A rolled tin roof, a brick tower, and an iron and brass housing for the light topped the squat, thick-walled building. By late summer 1854, the work was done. More than a year passed before the lighting apparatus - a five foot tall 3rd order Fresnel lens, the best available technology - arrived from France and was installed. At dusk on November 15, 1855, the keeper climbed the winding stairs and lit the oil lamp for the first time. In clear weather its light was visible at sea for 25 miles. For the next 36 years, except on foggy nights, it welcomed sailors to San Diego harbor.
The light had only a short life because the seemingly good location concealed a serious flaw: fog and low clouds often obscured the beam. On March 23, 1891, the keeper extinguished the lamp for the last time. Boarding up the lighthouse, he moved his family and belongings into a new light station at the bottom of the hill. Today you can see the "New" Point Loma Lighthouse from the Whale Overlook, 100 yards south of the Old Point Loma Lighthouse.

There is a cementary that you pass on the way to the Lighthouse..on both sides of the road.. endless tombstones..... my tears tore at my heart!
No words need to be said... " God bless those who died for our FREEDOM!"

Making Memories with Grandma's

I was able to pull some very busy Mother's to my home Saturday to make some Memories
I feel like it is important for my family to know a bit of history pertaining to their Grandma's
My Mother and Grandmother were known for their cooking, sence of humor and hard work!
I recieved my Grandma Jordan's silverware that was handed down to my Mother and now handed down to my family.  We used spoons & forks to decorate our books!
Inside the book is the Poem " Grandma's Apron" the orginal one.

The strings were tied, it was freshly washed, and maybe even pressed.  For Grandma, it was everyday to choose one when she dressed. The simple apron that it was, you would never think about; the things she used it for, that made it look worn out.  She may have used it to hold some wildflowers that she'd found., or to hide a crying child's face when a stranger came around. Imagine all the little tears that were wiped with just that cloth.. or it became a potholder to serve some chicken broth.
She probably carried kindling to stoke the kitchen fire, to hold a load of laundry, or to wipe the clothesline wire.  When canning all her vegetables, it was used to wipe her brow, you never know, she might have used it to shoo flies from the cow.  She might have carried eggs in from the chicken coop outside.  Whatever chore she used it for, she did them all with pride.  When Grandma went to heaven, God said she now could rest.
I'm sure the apron that she chose, was her Sunday best!

Kiddie Kollege.. a fun place to work

I work here... and I love it! I assist the teachers and pamper to the needs of the children..

It is time for the Pumpkin Walk.
Each child takes a pumpkin home to carve.
K.K started a pumpkin - walk many years ago and it has grown each year to the point that  Syracuse City got involved.  Because of the dedication of this great family .. many parents and children hold great memories as they look for their pumpkin among hundreds of entries.
Hats off to K.K. for making a difference!

There are all kinds of Witches
at K.K.... ( and they are all loveable)

Families are always welcome at K.K. .... this is a few of my grandchildren hangin- out -with- grandma while their Mom subs for a teacher.
